Fifth Class

5th Class are participating in a year-long ‘Postcard Project’. We currently have 35 postcards from around the world. Our next goal is 50 postcards! We have contacted friends and family, near and far and asked them to kindly send us a postcard with some information about their area. The children themselves send us postcards too if they visit other areas throughout the year. Please send any postcards to:

5th Class,

Maynooth Educate Together National School,

Rail Park,

Celbridge Road,

Co. Kildare.

Thank you!

5th class are taking part in the Innocent Smoothie ‘Big Knit’. We are knitting little hats that will feature on Innocent Smoothies from October 2018. 30c will be donated to Age Action for every bottle with a hat that is purchased. Click for further details.

A special thank you to the parents and grandparents who helped us with our knitting.

Currently we are working on our radio show called ‘Right Now, Radio 5’.

Another work in progress is our ‘Write a Book’ project. We are busy writing and editing our narrative stories for it.

22nd – 26th January 2018 was Internet Safety Week. We learned about staying safe online and how to deal with cyberbullying. We remember our motto from the Stay Safe programme – ‘Stop! Block! Tell!’.

For our Winter show, we focused on Hanukkah and Christmas as well as a talent show featuring Irish dancing, comedians, solo acapella and trio performances and tae kwon do patterns. Well done to everyone on an excellent performance!

During Maths Week 2017 (October 14th – 22nd), we played Darts to work on number patterns, addition, multiplication and target numbers. We also took part in an online maths challenge called ‘Mangahigh’. Two children from the class earned over 150 points and were awarded with medals from Mangahigh. Comhghairdeas do Anna agus Ethan!

For Halloween, we performed Micheal Jackson’s ‘Thriller Dance’ for the whole school and at the Spooky Walk at the University in Maynooth.

Here are some of our history ‘Explorers’ projects. We researched a variety of Explorers including Tom Crean, Dr. Clare O’ Leary, Hernan Cortez, Levison Wood and Neil Armstrong.
